Turning 65 Soon? Start Here.
A simple roadmap to getting Medicare set up without the confusion.
Start with the Basics
- Medicare is health insurance from the federal program, and private plans may be available to add coverage.
- You do NOT need a Medicare number just to ask questions or compare your options.
- If you already have your Medicare number (or your Medicare start date), it can help us confirm enrollment timing, but it's not required to learn your choices.
Your 3-Step Medicare Roadmap
1
Know your Medicare start window
You can usually enroll in Medicare during your Initial Enrollment Period: 3 months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month, and 3 months after.
Missing this window may cause late enrollment penalties or delays.
2
Choose your coverage path
Medicare Supplement (Medigap)
- Helps cover the 20% Medicare doesn't pay (depending on the plan)
- Usually higher monthly premium
- Typically does NOT include routine dental/vision/hearing or grocery allowances
- You usually need a separate Part D prescription drug plan to avoid late enrollment penalties
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
- Often has $0 monthly premium (varies by plan and area)
- Typically bundles medical + often prescription drug coverage (Part D)
- May include extra benefits like dental/vision/hearing
- Some plans may offer a monthly allowance for certain items/services if you qualify (availability and amounts vary by county/state and eligibility)
Not sure which path fits you? That's normal we can help you compare.
3
Connect with a licensed agent
- Review doctors, prescriptions, and budget
- Explain options in plain language
- Help you enroll if you choose to move forward
